The lids being out of glass, cannot rust. Their advantage: they can be used and re-used, againand again! The Weck® rubber rings are out of natural rubber. When your preserve is made and correctly sterilized, the strip of the rubber ring leans down. It is the natural visual indicator which your preserve WECK® sterilized well. All the WECK® glass jars are guaranteed without BPA, lead, phthalate nor PVC.
