Our engine test beds are modular systems existing of control unit, dynamometer and mobile engine supports. Applications: Determination of engine performance, runnning engines under a defined load in order to determine other measuring values. Fields of application: Science, development, quality control by manufacturers and control authorities, education (especially air cooled dynamometers). New: Container for outdoor installation for performance testing at combustion engines with all kinds of dynamometers. The MP Computer is a comfortable, comprehensive and easy-to-handle evaluation, display and control unit for different types of engine test beds. Its clear and ergonomic arrangement fascilitates the work with the test bed. Desired loads can be adjusted quickly and easily. Specialists are not required. Many optional additional functions increase enlarge the comfort of the MP Computer. Maintaining permanent accuracy of torque measurement is facilitated by a semi-automatic calibration routine. Existing engine/motor test beds can be modernized by an MP Computer. Examples of optional additional functions: - Automatic gravimetric determination of the specific fuel consumption. - Several possibilities of output and documentation of measured values. - Acquisition of non-electric and electric measuring values on combustion engines, electric machines, etc. - Special functions required by certain measuring tasks.

Transportable engine supports minimize the times of standstill of the engine test bed, as the engines can be built up and tested separately. The mounted engines can be coupled to the engine test bed quickly and without any effort. RWB mobile operation trolleys and Universal Engine Supports may be used with MP dynamometers and with other suitable dynamometers (by Weinlich or other manufacturers). Their modular design allows interchangeability and reusability. RWB are mobile thanks to swivel rollers. They have a load capacity of max. 800 kg. A RWB mobile operation trolley has a low base frame from which single supports lead up to the fixing points of the engine. By this design all parts of the engine can be reached as well as possible. Thanks to its solid and proven construction the mobile operation trolley is nevertheless able to match up to the stress during power tests. Precision balance with data connection to the MP Computer for automatic gravimetric determination of the specific fuel consumption. Two kinds of fuel are changed in the engine repeatedly without mixing. Thus also small differences in the specific consumption, the emissions and further values measured at the engine which are influenced by the fuel will be clearly visible. The engine is charged by a coupled braking dynamometer (engine test bed). At the test bed, different load conditions may be adjusted. The reproducibility of the experiments is secured by the speed stabilisation and the automatic gravimetric determination of the specific fuel consumption of the MP Computer. Example of application: Testing the efficiency of fuel additives or of other kinds of fuel pretreatment.

Methods and equipment for measuring the cylinder pressure in piston machines: p-V 1.0 and PicopV 1.0 user`s software for determination of p-V-diagrams with DiaW - Diagram for Windows. p-V forms a p-V diagram from a PC file containing measured values of the pressure and information about the rotary position of the crankshaft, and calculates the work delivered or consumed by the working cycle represented by the p-V - diagram. PicopV and indicator control are controlling continually the acquisition of cylinder pressure and crankshaft position for individual working cycles. PicopV is forming from these data p-V diagrams, evaluates them and calculates an average of indicated work. In the background the PC memorizes by DiaW - Diagram for Windows - data from the MP Computer about the state of the engine, the specific fuel consumption, and the duration of acquisition and evaluation of p-V diagrams.

They are secured by strong clamping elements on the test bed. Their axial position is adjustable. The removable protection grid protects only against accidental contact to rotating parts under laboratory conditions. Solid axially movable protection covers are avaiable if parts might detach and fly away.

Applications depending on scope of delivery: torque, power = f(speed), specific consumption sfc = f(speed, power) (gravimetric, selectable automatically). Above tests can be carried out in different ways: conventionally or supported by the test bed's MP Computer or with automatic documentation by directly printing or by PC thermal balance (PC required), real function of a transmission (automatic transmission only with PC), p-V-diagram (PC required). Functions of engine and engine control depending on the load may be demonstrated by using motor analysers, exhaust gas analysers and further measuring instruments. Model-specific error-switch boards are extending the demonstration varieties and are enabling a practical error diagnostics. Comparison of different engines under a certain aspect within one lesson.
