The 13C–breath test device HeliFAN plus is a compact and very reasonable 13C-infrared analyzer with a high sample throughput. It is especially designed for performing the Helicobacter pylory breath test at the clinics and at gastroenterologists. Together with this device you obtain the capable and easy to operate FANci–software, including more than 20 additional breath tests. Due to the availability of the common USB interface you can connect HeliFAN plus to your PC or laptop without any problems.

The automatic sample feeder FAN as for HeliFAN plus enables you to run a batch of up to 89 Exetainer® or Vacutainer® tubes unattended. The handling is integrated into the familiar FANci software interface; the intelligent error handling ensures a continuously sample measurement. An optional barcode scanner can be connected to register sample numbers.

The FAN ci2 is a highly sensitive analysis instrument for the determination of the ratio of the stable isotope 13C and 12C in the CO 2 of respiratory gases. The field of application for the device are all diagnosis techniques in which tracer substances marked with the 13C stable isotope are catabolized and finally expelled through respiration. The 13C breath test analyzer FAN ci2 can be equipped with a highly stable dual beam infrared spectrometer module. So this device with its 8 or 16 ports is suitable both for medical routine diagnostics and for long term measurements with high demands for precision and stability. The included FANci–software for measuring and interpretation supports all current operating systems of the connected PC. The high selectivity of the infrared detectors is obtained by filling themselves with the corresponding components, 13CO 2 and 12CO 2 respectively. The cross sensitivity of 13CO 2 to the high 12CO 2 concentrations is reduced by using a 12CO 2 gas filter in the 13CO 2 channel and mathematical hods. To yield the high accuracy the temperature is stabilized by thermostat and the system is closed to the environment. Software The control of the FAN ci2 is realized by the FANci WINDOWS®–software that guarantees an easy handling of the analyzer system and a clearly arranged representation of the results of measurements. So the user is informed about the progress of the measurements at any time. All controls needed for the routine procedures of the FAN ci2, as recording of sample data, start of measurement, evaluation and documentation of the results are easy available. All relevant system parameters are observed continuously and any disturbances in the process reported immediately. By selecting only a few system parameters, the FAN ci2 is adaptable to different questions. Via standard data interfaces like GDT, HL7 or ASTM the software can be connected to practise or hospital EDP systems easily. System configuration The FAN ci2 only consists of one unit that includes the acquisition unit and the gas management system. The gas sample–ports for the breath bags are located in front of the device. There are only two connections necessary: the power supply and the connection to the Personal Computer. Using the optional available FANh2 Windows® software via the supplied interface cable you can transfer measurement data from the H 2 monitor into test reports. You can select a commonly used H 2 breath test protocol like Lactose intolerance, Intestinal transit time or Bacterial overgrowth from the database and enter the patient’s details along with their symptoms. The software can manages multi-patient H2 sessions stored in the LactoFAN 2 and diagnoses the results. FANh2 will complete the test process by editing a professional report. As well as the many built-in protocols, the software will accept customized protocols entered by the user. In addition you are enabled to continue using your patients’ database coming from breath tests already performed. More than this, you can use the integrated test protocol database and take advantage from the convenient diagnosis and report facilities.
