Description

Appearance: White to off-white solid Solubility: Soluble in Water and Methanol pH value of 5%(wt/wt) water solution: 5.00-7.00 Melting Point: 110.0℃-114.0℃ Purity: 98.00%min by HPLC Specific Optical Rotation: -34°~-29° Identification by IR: complies to standard UV Absorption: Abs. @ 300 nm, 0.13max Abs. @ 400 nm, 0.06max Application: IPTG [367-93-1] is an extremely potent inducer that is not metabolized by bacteria and is very stable, and is therefore widely used in laboratories for cloning experiments that require induction of beta-galactosidase activity. It is often used in combination with X-Gal or Bluo-Gal for blue-white screening of recombinant bacterial colonies that induce expression of the lac manipulator in E. coli. IPTG binds to the lacI blocker protein and alters its conformation to prevent inhibition of the beta-galactosidase coding gene lacZ
