The fan and cooling specialist SEPA EUROPE unveils a true innovation this year: The RaAxial fan. This created term is a combination of the words radial and axial. The microfan with its dimensions of 17x17x4.5mm is ideal for compact, embedded applications and offers numerous possibilities, e.g. as an axial fan for the ventilation of housings or as a radial fan for blowing air onto the heat sink. A tailor-made „Kühligel®“ has already been developed for the latter which makes the cooling of hotspots child’s play when space is limited. Reliability has top priority at SEPA EUROPE. For this very reason the new fan is equipped with the tried and tested Magfix® bearing system. The life expectancy at 40 °C is 210 000 h (MTBF) or 40 000 h (L10).

Renewable energy sources are something that is becoming more relevant every day. Biogas is an alternative and here FläktComp Sweden can contribute with high-quality fans that ensure that the biogas is handled correctly. Biogas fans are a type of gas-tight radial fan, adapted for use in biogas environments where the demands on materials and performance are very high. The fans are usually delivered as a complete unit consisting of fan wheel, motor, cover and vibration feet. In order to choose the right biogas fan, one should start from operating data and process design, as well as whether there are any special requirements.

In the fluid dynamics laboratory of our Wasserburg competence centre, we design new fan wheels and turbines and optimise existing systems for performance, energy efficiency and noise emissions. We also develop complete systems of wheels with power units. Our range of tests includes suction operation, pressure operation and also unpressurised measurements. Revolutions up to 40,000 r/min and diameters of up to 250mm are possible. In our prototype department, we are able to simulate or modify the environmental circumstances of the fan wheels or turbines, thus achieving optimal operational conditions. Furthermore, we carry out mould-flow analysis, use ANSYS from external partners for the flow simulation and establish the fault probability and fault effect with FPFEs. New: Development of blower systems and optimization of ventilation systems.
