You first notice iron deficiency in the top of the plant. The leaves turn yellow, while the veins remain green. This is because iron is an immobile element. This means that once it is fixed, iron can no longer be distributed further in the plant. Eventually, the older leaves and smaller veins in the leaves also turn yellow. The plant growth slowly stops.
