Particular Challenge: For the assessment of rotating parts, numerous parameters have to be taken into consideration: Concentricity, radial run-out and axial run-out (i.e. wobble); furthermore thickness, diameter, planarity and the absence of surface defects had to be examined. The solution developed by QuellTech consists in a configuration of three Q6 Laser Laser Scanners.Each of the lateral surfaces is assigned to its own scanner. In order to enable the thickness precisely to be determined, both laser lines are mutually oriented in opposite direction. The third scanner inspects the outer circumference of the wheel, this way measuring diameter and radial run-out. All of these scanners are subject to encoder signals supplied by the rotary axis and synchronously triggered, so possible defects on the wheel can precisely be localized. The measurement takes place at a resolution of ca. 30 µm, and a cloud comprising several millions of points are obtained.

The high-performance optoNCDT ILR2250 laser distance sensor is used whenever large measuring ranges and high accuracy are required. The optoNCDT ILR2250 can be installed at distances up to 100 m, and even up to 150 m with a reflector film. This sensor impresses when measuring dark, structured and poorly reflecting surfaces, while providing stable measurement results to millimeter accuracy. The optoNCDT ILR2250 laser distance sensor is used in transportation, logistics and conveyance technologies as well as automation and the metals industry. This is where the sensor enables reliable measurement results even when it is, e.g., installed at a safe distance from heat emitting measuring objects. In addition, difficult-to-access places via mirrors or through glass sheets can be detected.

Designed for extreme ambient conditions, the sensors of this EGE product family have been proven for more than 40 years in the most varied areas. The proximity switches are based on the conventional inductive principle and switch when a metallic object moves close. These inductive sensors cope without problems with constantly changing temperatures, flooding, vibration, cleaning processes using high pressure cleaners and temperature up to 120°C. These properties are, for example, in demand when used in the steel industry. Because our sensors are always flushed with rolling emulsion during operation, the chemical resistance of the materials used and a high IP class are also essential. They are also ideal for outdoor applications.

Due to the 4x zoom accurate measurements from long distances up to 80 meters are allowed, with the ability to offset +/- and stake. The color display is rotatable and data can be exported via Bluetooth and USB.
