Fully Automated Production of Serological Pipettes

With their requirements for the new production line, the company approached Metzner Maschinenbau GmbH and subsequently received a system tailored to their specific needs. This now offers numerous advantages compared to the previous solution and impresses with a wide product variety and short setup times. It was particularly important to the customer that the material coming from the upstream extrusion line, which is characterized by high hardness, is handled with extreme care due to its brittle nature. Because as soon as the polystyrene shows even the smallest cracks, the produced part is already considered scrap. The extruded material is first scored using several rotary cutting heads, then broken, and finally placed in collection containers. The cycle time for four parts is only 1.5 seconds. When producing short lengths (up to 120 mm), the cycle time extends to about three seconds.
