Zimelidine (Zimeldine, Normud, Zelmid) is an antidepressant, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. It is currently out of production. The novel modification of this drug that we implemented in the store has been significantly reworked and improved and does not lead negative consequences, as in the case of the first original drug. In short, it's not the same thing. Zimelidine was practically devoid of action on histamine H1 and H2 receptors, and also had a negligible effect on noradrenergic receptors. Unlike tricyclic antidepressants, zimelidine had a negligible effect on muscarinic receptors and failed to affect cholinergic induced activity. Thus, some aspects of the drug’s profile (e.g. apparent low incidence of anticholinergic effects or drowsiness) may offer potential advantages in some patients. Moreover, zimelidine, unlike some tricyclic antidepressants, does not promote weight gain in patients.
