Our founder, Mr. Nanji Kalidas Mehta, left his native land at age 13 in a country vessel bound for Africa. He carried with him a spirit of adventure, determination to succeed and little more than his dreams. The year was 1900 and the unit of currency used to trade with the local tribes was Cowrie Shells. Sky Seed Africa Limited is an Ugandan registered trading company that grows, sells and exports locally cultivated crops like rice, chia seeds, sesame seeds, amaranth and soy beans as well as honey and dried fruits. With our network of 500 farmers in Uganda, our harvest approximately amounts to 100 tons per crop per season. We are member of the National Organic Agricultural Movement and we teach good agricultural practices to our farmers, who avoid pesticides and use only natural fertilizer. We empower farmers for sustainable development. From 2021 on we will not only grow and export conventional crops but also organically certified chia seeds. Our farmers receive fair prices and work under good social conditions. We guarantee best standards and perfect hygienic conditions from planting over harvesting, drying, machine cleaning, packaging in big bags to transport and shipment in containers to the client's destination harbor.
