We track and check the grapes carefully at every stage of wine production. The grape plants are cut by hand. Our terrain borders famous regions like Brunello or Quanti. Our company is very proud of our team. Our experienced oenologists develop a custom technological map for each wine brand. Furthermore, we check the quality of the wine at every fermentation stage via laboratory tests, which enable a professional assessment of the wine quality. The grapes are harvested by hand in small 12 kg crates. As early as this stage, unripe/rotten grapes can be removed, then the collected grapes are immediately sent to the cantina, so that they have no time to wither or spoil. This increases the quality of our wine. Our two cantinas are fitted with the latest equipment from the leading companies of the Defranceschi wine industry. The wine cellar BARRIQUES are equipped with new SAYRI barrels made of French oak. To mature the wine, we use barrels from the Italian companies Mastro Bottaio and Garbellotto, which have become well-established on the market. We also send wine to potential partners for tasting.

It was in 1971 that Michelle and Gilbert Bossard founded the Domaine Basse-Ville, driven by their shared vision and love of wine. Their son Jean-Louis Bossard has headed the domaine since 2007, continuing the family traditional with flair. Our secret for producing exceptional muscadets lies in the combination of unique terroirs, careful selection at harvesting and slow, controlled fermentation. These factors allow us to produce muscadets with a distinctive character, rich and soft, and a long finish. Some of our muscadets will age elegantly over a number of years. The Stewart Clan Crest features a pelican feeding her young in its nest. The Latin motto on the crest reads Virescit vulnere virtus, which translates to "Courage grows strong at a wound". The curious thing about the pelican on the crest is that it is not an animal native to Scotland. It is thought that Scottish crusaders saw them during their journeys to the Holy Land. Earlier versions of the crest would portray the pelican as feeding her young from the blood of her own chest, symbolizing self-sacrifice and putting the motto into great perspective. The crest was why the pelican wing was incorporated into our label design.
