Iran, possess some of the richest mines of gilsonite and in the recent years Iran has become a major exporter of gilsonite(Natural Asphalt) to India, China and many other countries in the region. Due to its unique compatibility is used in many industries, including road construction, in dark-colored printing inks and paints, polish, oil well drilling mud and cements, asphalt modifiers, foundry sands additives and also used to insulate tanks, tubes, even molding and a wide range of chemical products. When added to asphalt cement or hot mix asphalt in production, it helps produce paving mixes of dramatically increased stability.
