Knight Optical offer a range of Stock Ball Lenses and Half Ball Lenses, for use within Fibre Optics, Signal Coupling and Barcode Scanners. As the name suggests ball lenses are spherical lenses mostly made out of High Refractive Index Glass such as Sapphire, and LASFN-9 Glass. The reason ball lenses are most commonly used is for their ability to couple light in and out of fibres. The key feature of ball lenses is their short back focal length allowing for precision coupling where size or space is a limiting factor in the system. Ball lenses are typically used in pairs with one lens acting as a collimator for the second to focus the light back into the coupled fibre. Where a more compact solution is required a half-ball lens is typically more suitable. Microlens arrays are one- or two dimensional periodic patterns of small lens structures (lens dimensions up to a few millimetres). They can be used in a variety of ways, e.g. collimation or homogenization of light, depending on the design. We offer custom designs for our customers without limitations regarding the pattern in a wide range of lens sizes and overall array sizes. It is also possible to apply a microlens array directly into the plano side of all our plastic optics components. The best known microstructured optic is the Fresnel lens. Compared to a standard lens the surface of the fresnel lens is divided into a number of concentric grooves allowing for a wide range of optical effects (e.g. high-aperture (fast) large-area) while also reducing thickness, weight and cost. Fresnel lenses can be designed as a collimator, collector or with finite conjugates. They are usually corrected for spherical aberration. Based on the known Diamond ZEUS D50 Fusion splicer, which provides fast, easy, and high performance field terminations of Splice-On Connectors (SOC), we have developed a new Kit with the aim of simplifying the field repair or termination of outdoor connectors. The Kit contains everything that is needed to prepare, handle and splice tough outdoor/military and industrial cables with an outer diameter of 3 mm to 8 mm, including a cleaver and an automated stripping machine with heated jaws. Once the cable is fixed on a sliding holder, all three operations can be carried out without additional cable manipulation.

The special feature of the new DiaFlex fan-out connection is that the fiber whips can be removed and replaced via a connector system in the divider. This provides greater flexibility in the installation of fiber-optic networks. Cable ends can be replaced flexibly, quickly and without spending a great deal of time or money, and cable installations can be extended as is necessary. Thanks to the feed-in cap, which has a small design, preassembled cables can be inserted directly into pipes or cable ducts. There is therefore no need for expensive splices. The cable and the fiber whips are manufactured in the fiber design and quantity that you requested, inspected and delivered with the corresponding test reports.
