In additional the parallel wound cords can be supplied as rings or on plastic-, metal-, or wooden drums. By application of most commonly used wooden drums it is possible to use GarnTec filling strings in the stranding machines. The thinnest paper yarns in the world ! Paper cable yarns are used to obtain a regular air space between the copper conductor and the paper insulation. The yarns must have an exact diameter and may not become flat being wrapped on the conductor. Furthermore, the paper cable yarns can be used to exact standard measures as center elements or filling string. The raw material basis of our products are special celluloses of those the necessary special paper is made. For the thinnest yarns GarnTec is world class specialist and possessing the required know-how. In some sectors we are even sole supplier. Range of application: - telephone cable manufacturing - carpets and carpet bases manufacturing - candle wicks manufacturing (as substitute for lead or as reinforcement of the cotton fabrics) - insulation material manufacturing (as reinforcement) - Textile fabrics in combination with other yarns (e.g. for car seat and furniture covering)

Powercord is used to fill large voids in power cables by simultaneous longitudinally waterproofing in low, medium and high voltage applications. Powercord is available in semiconducting (Typ PSC) and insulating (Typ WBC) performance in the diameters of 8 mm to 50 mm, with very high strength in areas of 150 - 2000 N. Powercord is reaching a very high water absorption, depending on the diameter more than 10 liters / meter, even in sea water up to 2 liters / meter, is possible. Advantages: - Diameter and strength can be individually and quickly adaptable to any form of cable - Swellability and Conductivity of the material is adaptable to the cable construction - Powercord is up to 80 % lighter than other filling materials - Cables constructed with Powercord can be bent easily - Powercord can be used in the cable manufacturing process easier, because torsion can be compensated - Improved CO2 balance (up to 80%) compared to conventional cable filler in EPDM

In case of requirements for the cable construction applied material are constantly increasing. GarnTec therefore produces waterblocking yarns and waterblocking strings. GarnTec yarns can be used as binder or longitudinal as center elements or filling strings. GarnTec waterblocking yarns and waterblocking strings with paper inlay have been especially developed for longitudinally waterblocked cable constructions. In the event of water penetration, eg. damaged cable, the swelling substance of the yarn will be expanded at once and seal gaps and cavities along the cable and blocks a further water penetration. The damage will be limited - GarnTec waterblocking yarns and waterblocking strings minimize repair costs !
