TOR-1 is a device for quick and precise measurement of the moisture content in insulating oil, even in miniscule quantities. The high sensitivity and excellent long-term stability make this tester an ideal solution for constant control of moisture content in transformer oil. Operating principle The amount of water in the oil can be described as an absolute value in ppm or a relative value of aw: ppm is the ratio of moisture weight to oil weight; aw is the actual water content as a percentage of water content in fully saturated oil. A value of aw = 0 corresponds to completely dry oil, while aw = 1 corresponds to a completely saturated oil. The measurement with this sensor is based on exceptional long-term stability and resistance of capacitance sensor elements to contamination. The measured physical properties are water activity w and temperature T. Using these parameters, the device calculates the amount of water (ppm) in mineral transformer oil.

The TOR-2 transformer oil express-tester is designed to determine the moisture and hydrogen content in mineral insulating oils and ether based insulating oils. Moisture and hydrogen content is measured in parts per million (ppm). Knowing the content of hydrogen and moisture in the oil, as well as the rate of parameter change, it is possible to detect problems developing in the transformer in advance and to take timely measures to prevent damage to the transformer. Moisture measurement The device measures the activity of the water using a capacitance sensor, which ensures stability over time and contamination resistance. The oil temperature is also measured. The moisture content is calculated from these measurements. Hydrogen measurement A highly selective solid state sensor immersed directly in oil is used to measure hydrogen content. The sensor ensures accuracy and reliability of direct measurements.

It is a fully automatic device that allows testing according to the procedures defined in these standards, as well as according to the user procedures specified in the appropriate section of the setup menu. Operating principle Measuring the difference in amplitudes and phases of signals obtained when a test sinusoidal voltage with an effective value of up to 2 kV is applied simultaneously to the reference capacitor and the object of measurement, which is the measuring cell of the unit. The difference between the amplitudes of the signals taken from the reference capacitor and the internal electrode of the measuring cell is proportional to the dielectric constant of the liquid under study.

The unit is designed to measure the dielectric strength of transformer oil and other dielectric fluids according to IEC 60156, ASTM D877, ASTM D1816. It is a fully automatic device - allows testing according to the procedures defined in these standards, as well as according to the user procedures specified in the appropriate section of the setup menu. The core of the unit is the high voltage transformer and electronic modules. The unit operates by gradually increasing the voltage on the secondary winding of the high voltage transformer from zero to the maximum voltage, or to the voltage at which an electric breakthrough occurs in the dielectric fluid in the measuring cell installed on the high voltage contacts of the transformer. During operation, AC (50-60Hz) voltage is supplied from the secondary winding terminals through the cell electrodes into the dielectric fluid in the measuring cell.
