HESKINS LTD - Anti-Slip Solutions

Heskins developed aqua-safe, the world’s first non-abrasive anti-slip tape, we were shocked by how popular this became, we decided to manufacture a variation that possesses higher levels of grip and has a totally different feel; Resilient was born. Resilient tape has levels of grip that were previously only obtainable with an abrasive mineral top coating.

Coarse resilient tape is perfect for areas that need a non-slip surface, however, it is perfect for barefoot traffic and areas exposed to water, such as gym washrooms, swimming pools and boats. Due to coarse resilient being waterproof and non-abrasive, it will cater to both of these. Coarse resilient anti slip tape is an embossed plastic film, which while being non-abrasive still possesses high levels of CoF (coefficient of friction). Using the embossing technique on most of our non-abrasive materials, this creates an excellent surface texture which has high levels of CoF. Using a technique of micro blowing while the material is still molten can create deep troughs and valleys, which can increase levels of CoF. A deeper pattern allows for less clogging by contaminants such as dust, ice, water etc.

H3451 Coarse Resilient Lean is an industry-leading non-abrasive non-slip material. Developed closely from our H3450 Coarse Resilient. H3450 Coarse Resilient is a thick product, H3451 Coarse Resilient Lean was developed as a thinner (many customers do not require the thickness) alternative, the reduced thickness makes it more flexible and conformable.

We have introduced thick coarse resilient anti-slip tape to the range due to the high demand for a non-abrasive material to be used primarily for stair nosing inserts. Many inserts have a depth which non-slip tapes of regular thickness cannot fill. While we have created thick Safety-Grip to combat the issue, some people do not want an abrasive solution.

The adhesive is different to regular products; due to its requirements for use, we had to modify it to hold the material around sharp angles. Flexible plastic films are made so by the addition of plasticisers. Plasticisers eventually degrade an adhesive applied to plastic films. In typical application situations, this does not affect performance, but for applications that FlowGrip is used for, it would reduce the likelihood of its effectiveness when applied to sharp angles. Therefore, we created an adhesive that would resist the adverse effects of the plasticisers, allowing FlowGrip to perform as intended.

Handrail grip is becoming an essential component of a modern workplace or public environment, so much so that the UK Building Regulations Act 2000 (part M1 & M2) stipulated that handrails need to be ‘slip-resistant and not cold to the touch’. Heskins has proactively taken this challenge on board and created handrail grips that are unique and possess the solutions to these demanding requirements. Heskins is known throughout the world as the leading anti slip experts, our specialist knowledge has been built over decades of experience and research, first, we focused on the anti slip aspect. A simple solution would have been to use our safety-grip range, this would have created a solution but an abrasive material would have had negative implications for users not wearing gloves.

Our latest addition to the non-abrasive range, iGrips is a rubber-like material that is soft to the touch. Suitable for applying to electronics as a means of enhancing grip to prevent damage from drops or to allow greater dexterity and control during use. The ‘bobbly’ surface is comfortable to the touch while offering excep­ti­onally high levels of grip.

It can be applied over branding or logos. As TackyGrip is optically clear, it is unobtrusive to any display of brands or logos, yet will provide slip protection. As with all Heskins products, application to a clean and dry surface is recommended, but once down, creates an anti-slip surface suitable for standing and walking, or on a raised or handheld surface.

Flexi-Grip is designed as a non-abrasive anti-slip tape that is extremely flexible. Lending itself to application onto angular surfaces, particularly handheld devices. Flexi-Grips flexibility allows it to adhere to the surface effectively, with virtually no chance of lift or changing the contours of the surface it is applied to. To achieve a great balance of flexibility and durability, it is made as thin as possible, which allows it to conform to the surface correctly without increasing surface dimensions, on handheld devices particularly, to a point where it is detrimental.

Cushion Grip tape is produced using PU. One of the many benefits of PU is that it provides high levels of cushioning; PU has a different construction from other plastics we utilise. When PU is produced it can be ‘foamed’, this then provides a deep cushioning effect that cannot be experienced with other plastics. The cushioning allows for a very comfortable barefoot experience, ideal when users will not be wearing shoes or boots. PU does not contain any of the potentially harmful chemicals present in other more commonly used plastics thus it can be used in applications where a conventional material would not be feasible.
