During December 2017, Končar – Electronics and Informatics engineers as a subsuplier of Končar – Generators and Motors Inc. commissioned new static excitation system type BKN 11E with excitation transformer, for the generator 1 (6,1 MVA) on HPP KORKEAKOSKI, Finland. The first unit of this power plant was commissioned earlier by Končar in February, 2017. For the project, KONČAR has designed, engineered, manufactured and supplied the generators and excitation systems along with supervisory services during erection and commissioning. At the end of the project, the customer pointed out the pleasant cooperation with the whole Končar team.

As part of the revitalization of the motor / generator unit in PSHPP Fužine owned by the Croatian Electric Power Company, our engineers have successfully commissioned Digital Voltage Regulator type KONreg S1000. The Voltage Regulator is equipped with all appropriate control and limiting functions providing safe operation of the machine in turbine and pumping mode. The unit is currently in 4 months trial run.

Engineers from KONČAR – Electronics and Informatics commissioned final, fourth unit of new static excitation system type SEB 11EK with excitation and braking transformer, for the generator D (160 MVA) on HPP Zakučac in Croatia. The 4×160 MVA HPP Zakučac is a large hydro power plant in Croatian power generation utility. Excitation system is implemented in the dual-channel version with bridges in 1 + 1 configuration together with possibility of electrical braking through braking transformer.

KONČAR – INEM contracted the delivery and installation of new direct current power supply systems in TS Straža and TS Zdenčina with the Croatian Transmission System Operator at the end of August. According to the contract, the existing DC 220 V distribution equipment must be replaced with new systems that will meet the needs of the 110 kV plant, while retaining existing batteries in both transformer stations. New systems should enable the fulfilment of high standards of the Buyer in terms of quality and reliability of uninterruptible DC voltage power supply. Special attention should be paid to achieving selectivity of circuit breakers in distribution boards in three levels. The contracted systems are KONIS-B 220 V, 40 A type with high-frequency modular rectifiers in redundant parallel connection in accordance with the n + 1 principle.

During September 2017., Končar – Electronics and Informatics engineers commissioned all three new static excitation system type SEB 11E with excitation transformer, for the generator 1, 2 & 3 (21.5 MVA) on HPP Brežice in Slovenia. The 45 MW HPP Brežice is the fifth in the chain of six hydroelectric power plants on the lower Sava River. The construction of HPP Brežice was launched in March 2014 and last month has started trial run. Excitation system is implemented in the dual-channel version with bridges in 1 + 1 configuration, which provides full redundancy of the system.

KONČAR – Electronics and Informatics has been refurbishing, repairing and testing the twenty diode rectifiers of the main drive and three converters of the auxiliary drives PJUT 135-D as part of the large and medium repair work of the seven diode locomotives of the 1141 series manufactured in the seventies and eighties of the last century. The diode rectifiers are designed for supply of the traction motor of the locomotive with a DC voltage (885V, 1250A). In the process, the rectifiers are completely disassembled, cleaned in detail, mounting surfaces on semiconductor heat sinks are renewed, all electrical components are thoroughly tested and parts reassembled. The defective parts are replaced by new ones. The rectifiers have a specific construction that requires strict adherence to the procedure and order of the work. After assembly, complete check of the rectifier is performed.

KONČAR – Electronics and Informatics has contracted to produce DC power supply systems at 220 and 48 V within the construction of 110 kV facility of Croatian TSO in TS 110/20 kV Medulin. All factory testing were successfully carried out in the presence of buyer and investor representatives at the beginning of July. Delivery and installation of the equipment is planned by the end of the month, and commissioning in September. 110/20 kV transformation station Medulin is a new power facility built for the growing needs for power supply of the constantly expanding tourist-oriented consumption Medulin Riviera and is one of the largest investments of HEP and Croatian TSO in Istria County lately. The construction of the joint facility is taking place in close coordination between HEP ODS and Croatian TSO.

The audit was carried out last month by experts from Bureau Veritas, and now an official certificate was issued and is valid for the next three years, of course, with mandatory annual control. Improving business quality in KONČAR – Electronics and Informatics is permanent, as well as the determinant and long-standing practice and because of that, we always strive to be aligned with the latest ISO standards. The first step was made twenty years ago when we were awarded with first certificate for the Quality Management System (ISO 9001), and since 2003 we were certificated according Environmental Management requirements (ISO 14001).
