Planoconcave lenses are simple lenses with a plane surface and a concave surface and form a moderate quality image close to the axis. Concave lenses have a broad range of applications including, focussing and control of laser beams, moderate quality imaging and other optical instruments. In a multi-element optical system they reduce the power of the system. Used on their own they form a diverging cone or virtual image. A typical use for concave lenses would be in a beam expander. What’s more, our Hot Mirrors are supplied in a range of sizes and shapes with custom coatings tailored to meet your individual applications. Knight Optical supply precision optical components to customers working with Heat-Sensitive Systems. Hot Mirrors are designed to transmit visible wavelengths and to reflect heat, causing infrared wavelengths. Hot mirrors have a sharp cut-off between Infrared (IR) and visible because they have a dielectric coating that can be controlled for different AOIs (most commonly 0°). For systems that require heat shielding while still needing visibility, hot mirrors can be used. These can attenuate IR radiation and allow visible light, which permits your temperature-sensitive equipment to be visible.

Knight Optical supply stock and custom deviation penta prisms that cover the visual and NIR range. Deviation prisms are an optical component that will redirect a light beam into another known angle relative to the incoming beam. The penta-prism is a deviation prism which is used in cameras with a movable mirror that bends the beam vertical onto the focus graticule. The penta-prism provides a 90° deviation of the beam from the focus plane and, via an eyepiece, the user can aim the camera along the same axis as the beam that is focused onto the detector, electronic or wet film. Deviations through other angles can be accomplished using, for example, abbe constant deviation, littrow, and wadsworth prisms. Read PDF for more info
