Production starlim//sterner produces single and two component parts made of silicone using fully automated injection molding processes. Production takes place on our sites in Austria (Marchtrenk and Weisskirchen) and in Canada (London/Ontario). In Austria we run more than 200 injection molding, compound and 2K machines and in Canada more than 35. We deploy ENGEL brand machines with a clamping force range of 40 to 300 metric tons. The machines run in shifts: 365 days/year, 24 h. Micro-injection molding is a separate production unit. To meet special requirements of cleanliness/purity and hygiene starlim//sterner has a clean room meeting the following standards: ISO 14644-1 class 7 & 8 and GMP class C and D. Tool making We stick to the "single source supply" principle. Marchtrenk is not only the center for the development of products. Here we design and produce the molds for injection molding products exclusively in our own tool making department. Our expertise is concentrated entirely here at our HQ. This makes us independent and we can react in a flexible manner. You do not have to worry whether your tool has been calibrated properly to produce good components – we do that for you. We supply you with perfect silicone or compound parts.

Rapid Prototyping A product has to pass a range of tests before it can be mass produced. This prototype must be fully functional for its intended application and must be free of any defects. Only then can it be released to enter mass production. Therefore, for complex products our developers make so called dummy-samples for development tests to complement simulation . "Dummy-samples“ or "Lab prototypes“ are prototypes which are entirely produced in our own lab and are hand-finished. We use them to evaluate a new design quickly on the real part and in order to conduct initial test in the development phase. This is helpful in cases where complex parts have to be made using the Rapid Prototyping process. Prototypes can be made within a period of 4 to 5 working days. Micro injection molding Large series mass production is standard at starlim//sterner’s. Component weight goes down to 10 mg. Silicone components with a weight of below 10 mg are subjected to other physical laws. This is why starlim//sterner defines such products as "micro molding" parts. A clean room is a controlled environment used for the production of very clean parts. starlim//sterner owns a clean room that meets the requirements of the following standards: ISO 14644-1 class 7 & 8 (defines the number of particles in the air) and GMP class C or D (defines the number of germs in the air). These silicone and 2-component parts are produced for the medical and the pharmaceutical industry. We also produce small and miniature parts for the automotive industry .
