Sapphire is an incredibly hard crystal (HK1370kg/mm2), second only to diamond. Fluoresence free sapphire windows have high mechanical strength, thermal and chemical resistance and is scratch resistant, making it very desirable for operating in harsh conditions. Sapphire windows can be made thinner than alternative crystals thanks to its structural integrity and can operate up to 2030⁰C. The material transmits between the UV and IR at 0.15-5.5µm, and has a high refractive index of 1.75.. Thanks to sophisticated CNC technology, we are able to produce single planeoptic components as well as multifunctional systems. We process optical glass, filter glass, quartz glass and float glass up to a size of 600 mm diameter. We make filters, groundglass screens, plane mirrors, windows with a plane parallel surface contour and realize customized solutions for specific applications. In our test laboratory we measure machined surfaces with an interferometer to be able to guarantee top optical quality! No lens element leaves our factory before it meets the exact specifications and requirements of the customer

We can manufacture the structures directly in various materials such as brass, chemically deposited nickel or in selected hardened steels.For the replicating production of optical components, ultra-precise mold inserts made of steel are of particular interest due to their very long service life compared to other materials. In order to avoid the final polishing, which often leads to an undesirable change in shape or which is impossible due to a high structure density, LT Ultra offers ultrasound-assisted machining of steels with geometrically defined cutting edges made of monocrystalline diamond.
