Our founder, Mr. Nanji Kalidas Mehta, left his native land at age 13 in a country vessel bound for Africa. He carried with him a spirit of adventure, determination to succeed and little more than his dreams. The year was 1900 and the unit of currency used to trade with the local tribes was Cowrie Shells. The Mehta Group sprung from these dramatic yet humble origins. It is a multinational, multi-activity enterprise with a global presence spanning 4 continents: Asia, Europe, North America and Africa. TransAfrica Commerce Limited. (TAC) was incorporated in October 1994 as an international trading arm of the Mehta Group. TAC’s portfolio covers the Agricultural commodities, electrical, engineering, agriculture chemicals and construction sector items. Products are sourced and exported to Sweden, UK, USA, Canada, UAE, India, China, South Africa, Zambia and Kenya. Our agricultural produce is collected from a cooperative of local farms. The natural, chemical and fertilizer-free environment we farm in means our produce looks and tastes natural—not the mass-produced cookie cutter fruits and vegetables you might be used to.
