Thanks to its aerodynamic design, the presence of three leaflets and the absence of physical pivot axes for the leaflets, the TRIFLO valve aims to satisfy the following three criteria: - A device lifespan at least equal to that of the patient, to avoid the need for a second surgical procedure. This means more than 30 million flap openings and closures per year, with no leaks, blockages, cracks, ruptures or flap escapes. - The artificial valve must not lead to thrombosis, so that patients do not need to take anticoagulants. - Operation (flap opening and closing, blood flow through the valve) must be as silent as possible, so as not to disturb the patient or those around him, day or night. The TRIFLO device is in clinical trial and is not approved for sale.

Our process results in a finish much superior to alternative methods of etching or grinding strips to gauge. This surface finish and gauge control translates to improvements in finished product quality as well as process controls during drawing, stamping, etching or laser cutting. These alloys are offered in the fully annealed or the as-rolled tempers.

In the cold rolled and annealed temper the material will not exhibit a continuous alpha network at prior beta grain boundaries or a continuous alpha case layer on the surface. Owing to the alloy’s high strength and low ductility, it is difficult to cold draw into finished shapes. Hot forming has been found to be effective.

L-605™ is a nonmagnetic cobalt-based chromium-tungstennickel alloy that has excellent corrosion and oxidation resistance, and high strength at both room and elevated temperatures. Through work hardening, high strength levels can be obtained. L-605™ has a minimal heat treatment response, but can be used in the cold worked and aged condition. Applications include medical implant devices, springs, valves, and engine components for the aerospace industry. As a result of its high tungsten content, L-605TM is radiopaque, which is beneficial for implant medical devices, such as stents. Because of the alloy’s high work hardening rate, only minimal reductions can be taken before solution annealing will be required. L-605TM is very resistant to oxidation and scaling at elevated temperatures, and is nonmagnetic in all conditions. L-605™ is produced by vacuum induction melting followed by electroslag remelting (VIM-ESR), and as such, has a low nonmetallic inclusion level.
