In recent years, a groundswell of negative publicity and consumer backlash has emerged against disposable plastic products, particularly bottles. Images of bottles overflowing landfills and adversely impacting ecosystems have soured consumers and drawn the ire of environmental organizations and activists worldwide. As a result, many are calling for increased government and industry intervention to address the growing problem. According to the Ocean Conservancy, a nonprofit environmental advocacy group, plastic drink bottles are the third most common type of waste item found on shorelines – behind cigarette butts and food wrappers. As the plastics and beverage industries work to address the issue by investing in new recycling technologies and waste management infrastructure, there is also an opportunity to reinforce the benefits of infinitely recyclable aluminum and to promote it as the model of sustainable packaging for bottled water and other beverages.

Tin(II) iodide is used to prepare organic-inorganic perovskite thin films which exhibit uniform surfaces and strong photoluminescence. It finds application as an analytical reagent in the determination of rhodium and iridium by spectrophotometry. It is also involved in the synthesis of CH3(CH2)11NH3]SnI3 which is a hybrid semiconductor with MoO3 type tin(II) iodide layers.

Hoffmann square tins are deep-drawn or folded. Tin lids are available in flip-top, snap-on and sliding formats. Lids can have a rolling edge, flat edge, or they can be expanded. For maximum flavor protection, we recommend square tins with a freshness seal (FreshPack™).

When making round tins, we first print and varnish the metal sheet, which we then punch out and deep-draw. Round tins have a slip lid, which can simply be pulled off, unscrewed or opened by pressing it. Lids are available with a rolling or flat edge. Our specialty round tins include Klipp-Klapp® tins, squeeze top tins, and snap top tins.

Viacat 4101 (Butyltin chloride dihydroxide) is one of several organotin compounds which are active as an esterification catalysts at a temperature range of 200 – 230 °C. It is a nonacidic white solid which has C4H11ClO2Sn as chemical formula. It dissolves by reaction on heating with alcohols or carboxylic acids. The resulting active is soluble in ester systems and remains in the ester product. Viacat 4101 is recommended for preparation of esters such as trioctyltrimellitate and unsaturated and saturated polyester. In addition Viacat 4101 is used in the production of powder coating resins.
