Knight Optical can offer you Plane Mirrors (general, λ/1 and λ/4), for use within Laser Distance Measurement Applications in a range of materials such as Soda-lime float glass, white float glass, and BK7 glass. Plane mirrors also known as front surface mirrors or first surface mirrors are used widely within Laser Distance Measurement applications. As stock we hold a number of general purpose, λ/1 and λ/4 with a range of up to 6 types of coatings such as Enhanced Aluminium, Ali/SiO2 and Ali/Mgf2. Our general purpose grade mirrors are made from good quality float glass and generally available in thicknesses of 1mm, 3mm and 6mm as standard. Laser Distance Measurement devices utilise the use of a laser beam to be able to determine the distance of an object. How optical mirrors are used in conjunction with these devices is that, a mirrored surface can be measured with a laser tracker; which will help determine the distance between the laser distance Read PDF for full information..

We supply a range of Visible Sheet Polariser for a range of applications. All individually QA checked and metrology tested for quality to ensure parts meet customer specification. Supplied in a range of sizes and shapes with custom coatings tailored to meet your individual applications. Knight Optical supply precision optical components to customers within Consumer Electronics. Our Linear Polarisers linearly polarise unpolarised light and can block light that is polarised in the opposite direction. Linear Polarisers are often used in the production of LCD monitor and TVs. The liquid crystals act like a wave-plate, rotating the polarisation axis allowing them to control the amount of light from each pixel. They are used in a similar way for a photographer to prevent surface reflections from water. Our polariser sheets allow different levels of total light from a randomly Read PDF for more information...

We supply a range of Wedge Prisms for a range of applications. All individually QA checked, and metrology tested for quality to ensure parts meet customer specification. Supplied in a range of sizes and shapes with custom coatings tailored to meet your individual applications. Knight Optical supply precision optical components to customers within Forestry. Wedge Prisms are used in a similar manner to an angle gauge, when plotting the basal area of a group of trees. Wedge prisms are also used in beam steering. All our Wedge Prism are fully inspected on their quality in our ISO 9001 certified, state-of-the-art Metrology laboratory, using our Starrett AV300 Video Imaging System and our Trioptics PrismMaster. This allows us to work to the highest QA standards and meet the tolerance specifications on these precision components. Read PDF for more...

Optical flats are single precision flat surfaces. They are used as reference surfaces to compare flatness of a substrate where flatness is unknown. When a high quality optical flat is placed on top of a polished substrate and used in conjunction with a monochromatic light source light bands are formed. The light bands that are present are known as interference fringes and their shape represents how flat the part being tested measures. Dependent on how many rings are formed or how straight the presented lines are is an indication of how flat the tested part is. Optical flats are used for testing gauge blocks. Optical flats are also used in interferometers and high quality flat optical mirror and window sub-straights for laser applications. This range of quartz optical flats are single-sided. Quartz has low thermal expansion properties and is very durable and cost effective solution over UV grade fused silica. Read PDFs for more information

Knight Optical can offer UV Fused Silica Windows for Vacuum Applications. UV Fused Silica is a relatively hard optical glass with a very low coefficient of thermal expansion. This means that it is a good choice for us in Vacuum applications, as any difference in temperature will not affect the optical performance. In addition to the above, UV FS has high transmission from UV to NIR meaning that there is little loss of image when it is used for a Vacuum Window/viewport and therefore the quality of the optical system is not compromised. All our UV Fused Silica Lenses are fully inspected on their quality in our ISO 9001 certified, state-of-the-art Metrology laboratory, using our Trioptics Optispheric, and Starrett AV300 and Zygo Verifire XPZ. This allows us to work to the highest QA standards and meet the tolerance specifications on these precision components Read PDF for more info
