Our open-die forging presses play an important part among the forming presses. Siempelkamp supplies complete open-die forging presses equipped with manipulators and ancillary equipment such as lifting turntables and quite a number of additional components. Our presses operate reliably, fast and precisely, operating at pressing forces between 10 and 160 MN. The range of presses available comprise push-down or pull-down designs, two- or fourcolumn designs with oil-hydraulic or water-hydraulic drives. High-stroke frequency contributes to the eciency of these presses. Our customers produce bars, discs, rings, and anges from materials such as steel, high-alloy steel, nickel-based alloys, titanium, and aluminium on these presses. They prefer to order turn-key plants including integrated manipulators, turntable, die magazine, and die-changing system.

Graphite-free lubricant for the forging of aluminium Temperature Range 130 °C to 380 °C Properties and Advantages • improved cleanliness of work environment (graphite-free) • reduced wear on tool surface due to the forming of an effective release film • good release of forgings • formation of a pressure resistant lubricating film • forgings can be painted and powder coated, downstream processes are trouble-free • alternative to graphite containing products

Within the frame of quality assurance, the forged pieces of this client have to be checked in an inline inspection with respect to several parameters: Inner and outer diameters, as well as the absence of surface defects have to be verified. Video of inline forgings inspection for dimensional accuracy and surface defects with QuellTech LaserScaner. Particular Challenges Manual inspection carried out until now turned out to be not reliable enough, particularly after an increase in production. The final rejection rate has seriously affected the productivity of the entire manufacturing process. A solution for a contactless inline inspection was needed. The QuellTech Solution A testing station including an index table has been designed. This configuration acts as a support for two QuellTech Q4-60 laser scanners, used for inspection of the parameters mentioned above.
