Westfälische Drahtindustrie produces cold rolled flat and shaped wires at its Brotterode site. Over the last few decades, the Brotterode plant, with its central location in the heart of Europe, has evolved into an important supplier to the international cold rolling industry. With around 40 employees, we manufacture flat and profile wires in coils or bars for our industrial customers at our site in Brotterode (Thuringia) - on an area of 40,000 m². Our products can be found in the offshore, construction, electrical and automotive industries, among others. The Brotterode plant maintains quality assurance in accordance with ISO 9001 and certified energy management in accordance with ISO 50001. The absence of an environmentally harmful pickling plant also makes us an environmentally friendly high quality flat wire plant

Wires with a particular shape (neither round nor flat wire). Subject to our customers’ specification there are various conceivable solutions such as triangle, polygon, bones or trapeze shape, and many more. Made from Cu-ETP1 and Cu-OF1 in bare, soft annealed or hard. LEONI Histral® alloys upon request. Cross-section: up to approx. 2.5 mm², depending on shape, further cross-sections upon request. Profile wires are mainly suitable for electrical conductors in a plastic profile and for busbars. They are space saving and have bigger contact areas. Certain shapes give a more secure hold in plastic profiles.

The cold rolling cassettes Mod CRC are utilized for executing the rolling and profiling operations on the wire, for production of smooth and ribbed wire. Strongly-built and innovative in their design, they permit to reduce the time needed for installing the rolls. These cassettes do not require an axial regulation of every single roll because the very close tolerances of every single components of the cassettes guarantee the auto-alignment. By having one set of cassettes in operation and a second set off-line, being prepared with the rolls for the next application, the downtimes are reduced. When a production change is needed, the operator just removes the first set of cassettes from the cold rolling line, replaces them with the second set and start immediately to work.
