A feature of the KMT-118C draft gear is the use of elastic elements of increased reliability and energy intensity in the design of the plate apparatus, as well as the implementation of the apparatus parts from heat-treated steel with bronze inserts. This makes it possible to achieve, firstly, a high energy consumption of the device, and, secondly, to avoid the use of metal-ceramic linings, which increases the reliability and provides the required resource of the structure as a whole.
Technical appraisal and economic benefits
The strength of the walls of the case is more than 20% higher than that of the known analogs. The deformation of the walls of the body when exposed to excessive impacts is excluded due to the design
features of the friction unit and the execution of solid walls in contact with the friction unit (patent).
Solid walls provide high strength both under axial shock loads when closing the draft gearbox and under thrust forces from the friction unit.
The PMKP-110 absorber is a new high-performance shock absorber of increased energy intensity, class T1, to protect multi-purpose freight cars of general purpose from longitudinal loads. The device is developed on the basis of the commercially available draft gear PMK-110K-23, in which, instead of a spring set, a supporting-return device is used, which is a set of polymer elastic blocks. The use of polymer blocks increases the completeness and energy intensity of the shock absorber's power characteristics. This is achieved by increasing the rigidity of the retaining set, which makes it possible to reduce the control angles of the wedge system and, accordingly, to stabilize the friction on the auxiliary surfaces. In combination with the damping properties of polymers, frictional self-oscillations can be eliminated.
