In fact, it was consumed by ancient Egyptians, Romans, and Greeks, who attributed medicinal and aphrodisiac properties to it. Black truffles are easy to distinguish by their peculiar appearance; when mature, they are black, as the name suggests, with a violet hue. Their texture is warty, and inside, the flesh is compact yet light, with some firmness.
