TOR-1 is a device for quick and precise measurement of the moisture content in insulating oil, even in miniscule quantities. The high sensitivity and excellent long-term stability make this tester an ideal solution for constant control of moisture content in transformer oil. Operating principle The amount of water in the oil can be described as an absolute value in ppm or a relative value of aw: ppm is the ratio of moisture weight to oil weight; aw is the actual water content as a percentage of water content in fully saturated oil. A value of aw = 0 corresponds to completely dry oil, while aw = 1 corresponds to a completely saturated oil. The measurement with this sensor is based on exceptional long-term stability and resistance of capacitance sensor elements to contamination. The measured physical properties are water activity w and temperature T. Using these parameters, the device calculates the amount of water (ppm) in mineral transformer oil.

Moisture measurement The device measures the activity of the water using a capacitance sensor, which ensures stability over time and contamination resistance. The oil temperature is also measured. The moisture content is calculated from these measurements. Hydrogen measurement A highly selective solid state sensor immersed directly in oil is used to measure hydrogen content. The sensor ensures accuracy and reliability of direct measurements.

The FRMD is used to remove the upper layer of foam, oil or fats. The natural flow within the basin, together with the suction of the pump, attracts the surface of the water towards the center of the FRMD. An adaptable floating weir allows the upper layer to enter the pump and be removed from the basin. The weir and the submersible pump are mounted on a robust floating structure held in place by cables and springs or guiding tubes. Depending on the application and the geometry of the basin, the FRMD can be mounted together with a MIX SL (directional submersible mixer) or MIX-AS (floating downdraft mixer) to help the flow towards the weir. Applicable for removal of oil, fats, bulking + aging sludge, recycling of scum in sludge stabilisation + biogas, SBR and ASP tanks.
