Ceiling sound insulation is done to prevent air circulation sounds coming from the upper floor to the rooms on the upper floor. Floor sound insulation is done to prevent vibration sounds coming from the upper floors or to prevent noise-making activities downstairs from being reflected to the upper floors. For example, walking sounds upstairs may cause discomfort downstairs. For this reason, floor sound insulation should be made at the point where the sound occurs. The reason for sound insulation on ceilings may only be the sounds propagated in the air, such as speaking sounds. Since vibration-related sounds can travel downstairs through the walls as well as the ceiling, you should block the sound at the point where it occurs.
