Knight Optical can offer you Stock and Custom Fresnel Lenses, for use within Magnification Displays in a range of materials such as PMMA Acrylic and Borosilicate. We supply a range of Fresnel Lenses for a range of applications. All individually QA checked and metrology tested for quality to ensure parts meet customer specification. Supplied in a range of sizes and shapes with custom coatings tailored to meet your individual applications. Our Fresnel Lenses consist of a flat surface with interspace concentric steps whereby each step corresponds to the surface of a conventional lenses. PMMA Acrylic is a preferred material type of the Magnification Displays as it is very lightweight when used in a large size. Fresnel lenses is a common focal length equivalent to a traditional lens, but with a fraction of the thickness. Additionally, because the lens is so thin little light is lost by absorption. Knight Optical can offer Custom Homogenizing Rods for use within Electrical Instruments. Electrical instruments use backlight displays to help illuminate and evenly distribute the light source. They can be used as mixers, which is when you want to mix colours from multi-colour LEDs together. The light source will enter a light pipe at a variety of incident angles, which is designed to utilise its total internal reflection to help transmit light from the entrance of the light pipe to the exit. The material’s refractive index is the only factor which affects the light pipe’s critical angle; this defines the angle of acceptance at which the total internal reflection will occur. Knight Optical can offer you Custom Sapphire Cylindrical Lenses, for use within Endoscopes. We supply a range of Sapphire options for a variety of applications – all individually QA checked and metrology tested for quality to ensure parts meet customers’ specifications. What’re more, our Sapphire Cylindrical Lenses are supplied in a range of sizes and shapes with custom coatings tailored to meet your individual applications. Sapphire (Al2O3) is one of the hardest minerals and optical materials available for use in the range from UV up to 5µm, making it ideal as a protective window for camera systems. Cylindrical lenses are designed to focus light into a straight line, rather than to a single point. As the name suggests, the lens surface has a cylindrical shape rather than the usual spherical formation, which allows for one-dimensional shaping of light along a line. Cylindrical lenses are often used to change the profile of laser beams; for example Read PDF for more info

Knight Optical We can offer Custom Moulded Aspheric Lenses for use with Laser Diode Collimators. Aspheric lens surfaces are used to correct spherical aberration (where the converging light from a lens does not have a common focal point, resulting in a distorted image) in lasers and imaging. Traditional spherical lenses cannot collimate light effectively because even small angles of incidence can produce spherical aberrations. This can mean that several components may be required to get the desired result. The non-spherical surface of an aspheric lens allows a single component to effectively focus or collimate even highly divergent emissions, potentially replacing a multi-lens system with a single aspheric lens. Therefore Aspheric Lenses that are moulded are ideal for use within laser diode-to-fibre coupling applications. For more information read the PDF..

Knight Optical can offer Cylindrical Lenses for use within Optical Systems. We supply a range of cylindrical lenses for a range of applications. All individually QA checked and metrology tested for quality to ensure parts meet customer specification. Supplied in a range of sizes and shapes with custom coatings tailored to meet your individual applications. Knight Optical supply precision optical components to customers with optical systems. Cylindrical lenses are designed to light to a straight line, rather than a point. Cylindrical lenses are often used to change the profile of laser beams, for example to correct for astigmatism and elliptic shape in diode lasers or to generate lines from single mode lasers. Knight Optical can offer Lithium Fluoride Windows for use within UV Applications. We supply a range of lithium fluoride windows for a range of applications. All individually QA checked &metrology tested for quality to ensure parts meet customer specification. Supplied in a range of sizes & shapes with custom coatings tailored to meet your individual applications. Knight Optical supply precision optical components to customers using UV optics such as UV lasers. UV lasers are beneficial in some applications as opposed to longer wavelengths such as infrared or visible light as they do not heat the areas around the target. This allows the laser the cut materials by breaking atomic bonds, rather than melting the material. Due to the large band gap for Lithium fluoride, it’s crystals are more transmittive to short wavelength UV radiation than any other material and are ideal for use in X-Ray monochromators, as for use in VUV, UV, Vis and IR spectrums. KO can offer Metallic Neutral Density Filters for use in Photographic Applications. We supply a range of Metallic Neutral Density (ND) Filters for a variety of applications – all individually QA checked and metrology tested for quality to ensure parts meet customers’ specifications. What’s more, our Metallic ND Filters are supplied in a range of sizes and shapes with custom coatings tailored to meet your individual applications. Our Metallic ND Filters reflect (with a metallic coating) light neutrally over a wavelength range (typically visual). They can be used to lower the intensity of light prior to the image plane. These are often used in photography, allowing photographers more flexibility with their setups to achieve desired effects. Often, an ND filter will be used in conjunction with a long exposure to prevent washed-out and overexposed images. They can also be used to add motion blur, reduce depth of field and to use a wider aperture. For more information read PDF…

Known for their resistance to mechanical and thermal shock, our Magnesium Fluoride (MgF2) Windows are specified for a variety of applications operating in a range of harsh environments. Commonly employed for high-tech applications include excimer lasers, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermography and other infrared (IR) systems, MgF2’s durability and birefringent properties make for a sought-after optical window across a spectrum of industries. What’s more, its stability in water means it’s ideally suited for outer surfaces, such as windows. With its birefringence (beneficial for polarisers in the UV waveband), transmittance between 0.1µm and 7µm and at over 90% between 0.4-5.0µm and hardness of circa HK576, MgF2 is one of the hardest optical fluorides.
