ProTec designs and supplies innovative solid-state polymer post-condensation lines and complete PET bottle flake recycling lines. The batch tumble reactor which combines homogeneous mixing with short processing times is the keystone of the line. The IV value (intrinsic viscosity as a yardstick for molar mass) of polyesters (PET, PBT, PTT etc.) and of polyamides (PA6, PA66 etc.) can be purposefully increased by precise control of temperature, vacuum and processing time, with or without defined addition of auxiliaries.

The SOMOS® RDF dryer is used for drying hygroscopic polymer pellets. It consists of compact RDF modules which can be flexibly combined, are capable of autonomous operation and have drying capacities of 10 kg/h to 250 kg/h per module. The modules are available in 7 sizes with a volume of between 30 l and 600 l and a drying are volume between 10 m3 and 180 m3, each one being individually controllable by its own controller. Alternatively, when interconnected, they can be controlled using a common operator control unit. Each module has an integrated air generator, so ruling out complete failure, as may occur with a centrally supplied drying system.

Modular SOMOS® RDC stationary drying systems are suitable for efficiently drying virtually any kind of hygroscopic polymer pellets and regrind. The material is dried with heated drying air, optimum air distribution in the material being dried ensuring uniformly good drying results. ProTec designs and supplies RDC drying systems made to measure for all polymer processing processes. Material throughputs meet demand from individual machines right up to a plant's entire installed base of machinery.

The Batchmix 50 to 3000 models cover gravimetric dosing applications with throughputs of 5 to 3,000 kg/h. Usable for pellets and regrinds. Solutions for special applications are available. Depending on size, the machines can handle between 4 and 12 different materials and option packages are available to extend their functionality. The unique mixing technology used maximizes the dosing accuracy and uniformity of the mixed product.

SOMOS® RDM mobile dryers are designed for drying highly flowable, hygroscopic polymer pellets and regrind. They can be used flexibly as auxiliary units for supplying processing machines for moderate throughputs which is a particular advantage for frequent material changes. The mobile dryers, with their attractive, functional design, consist of a dry air generator and an insulated stainless steel drying bin. They are optionally available with an integral dry air conveying unit for automatically feeding the processing machine. The dry air generator uses the SOMOS® single chamber system making highly efficient use of desiccant. As a result, the desiccant can be regenerated quickly and energy-efficiently, providing cost benefits for the processor. Having five graduated sizes of drying bin with an effective volume of 30 l to 400 l, the dryers are capable of flexibly pre-processing a volume of material suited to the processing machine's throughput right by the machine.

SOMOS® RDX attachment dryers are designed for drying small volumes of polymer pellets with throughputs of around 8 to 10 kg/h using in-plant compressed air. They are ProTec's way of providing an economic alternative to conventional drying systems (e.g. adsorption dryers): the compressed air technology used combines perfect drying results with minimal operating costs and virtually maintenance free operation. SOMOS® RDX is available in 38 container sizes of 1 l to 82 l.

ProTec offers complete production systems for manufacturing long-fiber reinforced thermoplastics (LFT) in pellet form and as UD tapes (unidirectionally reinforced tapes) as well as impregnated fiber strands and profiles. The system works extremely flexibly and is designed for variable formulations and high throughputs at a production speed of 50 m/min. We deliver an LFT system design customized to meet the respective customer requirements, all from an single source – from material development, to testing and commissioning on location at the customer‘s premises.

The SOMOS® Volmix MH15 volumetric small-volume dosing unit continuously and highly accurately meters granular or pulverulent minor components (masterbatches, additives etc.) into a freely inflowing major component (pellets). A dosing screw introduces even tiny volumes into the process without pulsation. Five screw sets are available for adjusting the volume to be introduced. A static mixer finally ensures that a homogeneous mixture of the major and minor components flows into the processing machine.

SOMOS® Volmix from ProTec is a highly accurate volumetric dosing and mixing system. Volmix stands for VOLumetric dosing and MIXing. The system supplies injection molding machines as well as extruders or blow molding machines with throughputs of up to 2,500 kg/h. A high-accuracy small-volume dosing unit for regrind for a throughput as low as 150 g/h is available as an option.

The SOMOS® Gramix ExactDos dosing system is specifically designed for ultra-small volumes from a minimum throughput of 200 g/h (approx. 3.3 g/min) and can be combined with any continuous dosing unit.
