Whether as a Windows® printer or part of a system network, the robust, stainless steel GLP-58 thermal printer impresses with its fast, reliable handling and multifunctionality. In combination with a range of Bizerba labeling systems, checkweighers and industrial terminals, it offers a wide variety of potential applications - both in manual labeling and statistical work. The label printer GLP 58-K on the ST terminal allows printing of up to three barcodes. It is possible to use not only standardized printing images but also custom layouts. The Windows® printer driver can be used to print out labels created using Windows® applications and the Bizerba Label Designer (BLD).

Thermal Transfer Ribbon is basically a polyester film on which are coated different layers. Ink layer is transferred to the label thanks to the heat delivered by the thermal head of the thermal printer. Printing with Thermal Transfer Ribbons is a proven technique to deliver durable variable codes, such as barcodes, that always read or scan. It produces dense, high-resolution images in colour or black-and-white. Additionally, it can be used on a wide variety of substrates. Images made with these ribbons are highly resistant to chemicals and extremely durable. The printers work at high speeds and require little maintenance. The containers are picked up by the in feed star wheel and transferred to the container table. The container rotation begins when they are positioned between container plates and centering bells. The speed of the feed roller is adjusted to the required label length for continuous web tension. A standard threading unit ensures optimal film feed. In the cutting unit, the labels are precisely cut while a PLC command and servo-motor provide an exact cut-off point. Two narrow strips of hot melt glue the labels together, which are applied by a heated glue roller to the leading and trailing label edges. The label with the glue strip on its leading edge is transferred to the container. This glue strip ensures an exact label positioning and a positive bond. As the container is rotated during label transfer, labels are applied tightly. Gluing of the trailing edge ensures proper bonding.
