In 1999, I decided to found a company for this. BeckerComPlan GmbH. But we had little, if not nothing at all, to do with animal food. As my working life was very involved with controlling and cost reduction, I decided to found a company that provided many other companies with purchasing advantages. As I grew up with animals right from the cradle, and animals like dogs, horses and cats have always played a key role in my life and that of my family, and my feeding behaviour was influenced by advertising, I decided to look more closely at animal nutrition and find out what harm I might be doing to my animals with one product or another. I grappled with the nutrition of dogs, horses and cats, the Feed Act and ingredients in the individual feed types. I spoke with nutritionists, veterinarians and alternative animal practitioners. I visited lots and lots of feed mills and busied myself with nutritional-physiological content. The most important aspect for me, however, was to recognise that I believe one ingredient or another not to belong in animal feed, even though many people use it. Today, we have 15 types of dry fodder and seven types of wet fodder – single protein and 100% meat. This same philosophy applies to cat food, eight types of 100% meat, dry fodder and horse fodder, as well as natural nutritional supplements and animal accessories.
