Set up in the early 1970s by a group of forty small-scale mussel harvesters who created a joint sales operation for their products in an area close to the fishing port, called the CO.PE.MO. (fishery and mussel growers co-op). The cooperative mainly handles the sale of molluscs harvested by its members, particularly clams, mussels and sea snails. It also sells catches from small trawlers and local fishing people.
