Crude glycerine is distinguished by its brown colour and saltysweet flavour which animals enjoy. The applications of crude glycerine include highenergy individual feed and the optimisation of feed rations. Moreover, it acts as a binding agent for floury feeds and as a pelleting agent. As a feed, it promotes feed intake.Feed law stipulates that crude glycerine (GMOfree) may be used for its intended purpose as a feed supplement or individual feed. It provides energy, since its glycerine content is similar to pure starch. It is also recommended for preventing ketosis and stabilising metabolism.

Sugarbeet vinasse is a byproduct in the fermentation of beet molasses. As feed, sugarbeet vinasse is suitable for all animal species due to its crude protein content. However, it is especially recommended for feeding cattle and sheep, since only ruminants can use the nonprotein nitrogen compounds of vinasse for protein synthesis. Viscous sugarbeet vinasse is an excellent binding agent for feed. It can be used to bind essential dry feed rations and obtain a dustfree mixture. This effectively binds dust in the feed and prevents a loss of feed and nutrients through dispersion of the dust into the air.

Sugarbeet is a common and wellestablished feed for livestock. Sugarbeet chip pellets are high in sugar and therefore particularly beneficial for livestock animals that are intended to gain weight and which require lots of energy. Their high fibre content is easily digestible for ruminants and is gentle on the rumen and digestive system. Dried chip pellets are therefore ideal as a highsugar dairy cow feed and beef cattle feed.

Golden Syrup (a clear golden viscous syrup) has a distinctive naturally caramelised mellow flavour and golden colour. It performs the same task as invert syrups but with added colour and flavour. It is used in baking and savoury sauces. It has no added flavours or colours. This is the traditional golden syrup made from natural sugar ingredients.

The main commonality between organic cane sugar and raw cane sugar is the raw material used. Demerara is a special raw cane sugar that is also available in organic quality. Organic demerara is a type of raw cane sugar that has a lightbrown colour and a molasses content between two and three percent. What’s special about this sugar variety are the particularly large crystals. The flavour of this organic cane sugar is considered especially aromatic and is associated with malt and caramel.

The general term “organic sugar” encompasses all types of sugar cultivated organically. With organic beet sugar, farmers prevent pest infestations through carefully planned crop rotation, using special beet varieties and adjustments to the sowing depth.

The criteria for Demeter certification relate to both the cultivation and processing of the products. One particularly important criterion for Demeter sugar is the omission of chemical, synthetic fertilisers and plant protection agents. In contrast to the standards of the EU Eco directive, this label also requires the improved soil quality using special compost and field sprays.

Certified products, such as Fairtrade sugar, bear the Fairtrade label in the retail and wholesale trade. Fairly traded sugar contributes towards improving the living standards and working conditions of farming families in Latin American, Asian and African countries.

Naturland has developed special standards for organic agriculture and awards its label to those products which are produced in harmony with nature and the environment according to these criteria. The raw material for Naturland sugar, sugarcane, requires temperatures above 20 °C in order to grow and is therefore only cultivated in countries with a tropical or subtropical climate. This makes it all the more important to monitor compliance with defined standards and conditions under which the raw material is cultivated. Naturland sugar is subject to stricter criteria than conventional organic products.

Cane sugar refers to a refined white sugar. Raw cane sugar is partially refined and contains around 0.3 to one percent molasses, which is mixed with sugar crystals.

White sugar also known as Industrialsugar is conventionally produced from sugarbeet and sugarcane. White sugar in the wholesale trade can be divided into two categories based on the purity of the crystals EU Category I and Category II. Category II refers to conventional industrial sugar. As the name suggests, this sugar is industrially produced. Major customers, confectionery manufacturers and companies in the food industry use this type of sugar for a range of applications.
