The Paullinia cupana is a climbing plant in the family Sapindaceae, native to the Amazon basin and especially common in Brazil. Guarana has large leaves and clusters of flowers and is best known for the seeds from its fruit, which are about the size of a coffee bean (Wikipedia). Many people say the Plant and Fruit resembles eyeballs on a plant starting at you. The Black area in the Fruit that resembles the Eyeball is the Guarana Seed and that part is picked and separated from the Fruit Pulp for processing. Guarana powder is made from the seeds of the guarana plant. The Guarana Seed is dried and processed into Guarana Powder. Depending on the quality of the harvests, the Caffeine content of the Guarana powder is influenced by the type of harvest and amount of Guarana seeds used per 100g.
