Isopropyl Alcohol or Ethanol is a chemical which has a wide range of uses. This includes the use in the manufacturing of various products like beverages, flavorings, acetic acid, fuels, and dyes. Its other uses can be determined depending on its concentration. In the medical field, Isopropyl Alcohol with a concentration between 70% to 75% is used for disinfecting purposes. Common rubbing alcohols which are used in hospitals and households are of this concentration.

Diethanol Isopropanolamine 85% (DEIPA 85%) is a colorless to pale yellow transparent and viscous liquid. It is completely soluble in water, also soluble in ethanol, acetone, glycerine, and ethylene glycol. It has a very light ammonia like smell.

The IR Thermopile can be used to measure methanol (CH4O / half structure formula: CH3OH) & ethanol (C2H5OH) at ambient temperatures between -20 and 85 °C. With its very high detectivity of up to 6.27*10^8 cm√Hz/W and a sensitivity of up to 171 V/W, the 2-channel detector is the high end solution for demanding applications in medical technology or industrial production and process applications. The optical filter window with a CWL of 9663 ± 80 nm and a HBW of 240 ± 40 nm is specifically designed for NDIR gas analysis of these typical alcohol compounds. These signal values, which are comparable to pyrodetectors, are achieved by the interaction of chip design, integrated thermistor for reference temperature determination, an interference absorber and backgassing with krypton. The precise measurement results are further secured by the second reference channel (CWL: 5060 ± 25, HBW: 100 ± 15 nm).

The NDIR bundle industrial gases consists of optimally matched thin-film infrared emitters and various IR thermopile detectors for gas analysis in industrial applications. The set includes ten components for commonly measured gases such as CO2, CO, hydrocarbons, nitrogen compounds and alcohols: four JSIR 350 series IR emitters in various TO packages and six matched thermopile IR detectors with two or four channels of the MTS 200 series. In the development project, the NDIR bundle supports several goals: short-term delivery of IR components without minimum order, evaluation of components or testing of different components in the measurement system. Fast test results in development help to gain a decisive advantage on the way to market maturity of the series product. The Basto Distillery is a distillation unit that revitalises the Basto region's ancestral methods for producing alcoholic beverages, with particular emphasis on burning wine and grape marc in an alembic.
