For stress cone construction, where it provides the conducting layer. For smoothing electrical stresses on irregular shaped lugs and connectors. For smoothing electrical stresses in joints and terminations using premoulded components. For smoothing electrical stresses on overhead power lines, reducing discharges and consequent interference to local radio and telephone communications.
