The purpose of this chemical treatment (Kraft Process) is to remove the lignin structure (from the pulp subjected to the process), which is the organic binder that holds the fibers together, by using a mixture that dissolves it. After removing it, the remaining fibers can be used to make an undefined, unfinished brown paper, used to make paper bags or cardboard boxes. The raw material obtained in this way can be used further, through an accentuated purification of the remaining lignin, leading to the obtaining of superior quality pulp, for white paper for writing and printing.
