Knight Optical’s Laser Optics range include Thin Film Polarisers which separate the s- and p-polarised light with negligible absorbance within the coating for low loss performance. The laser thin film polarisers are optimised for 515nm and 1030nm design wavelengths, ideal for Ytterbium (Yb) doped lasers including diode-pumped solid-state lasers (DPSSL) and fiber lasers, as well as Nd:YAG lasers emitting at 1064nm. Currently, we stock thin film polarisers which work at either 45° or at Brewster angle (55.4°), both of which have been coated using ion beam sputtered (IBS) technology, creating a compact and durable coating, with a LIDT suited for ultrafast laser applications. Often used within a laser resonator to separate the different polarisation states and can be used as an alternative to polarising beamsplitter cubes or Glan-type polarising prisms. Unwanted hair, be gone! Knight Optical offer a range of Stock Dichroic Filters, for use within IPL Applications. Intense Pulsed Light filters are essential to IPL applicators as they are used to filter out the UV wavelength range; and transmit between 400-1200nm for use within cosmetic lasers that are designed to remove unwanted hair, vascular treatment and even acne treatment. These IPL Filters are often stacked between sapphire windows within the IPL applicator to offer a more defined wavelength spectrum when in use. Dichroic filters consist of thin film dielectric coatings on glass, and are designed to offer high transmission over a specific wavelength while reflecting all other wavelengths, having negligible absorption. The dielectric coating is perfect for high power applications, and does not show the strong fluorescence of certain glass filters. We hold a massive inventory of Bandpass, Long pass, Short pass, Band-blocking and Colour-correction filters.

When it comes to a high quality IR Cut filter, it is the substrate with the coating applied that affects the performance. Knight Optical provide high quality wafers for precisely this, and the surface quality of our substrates eliminates blotching at the sensor which occurs on lower quality substrates especially where IR Cut filters are concerned. Our wafers are produced as thin as 500μm & provide exceptional surface quality. However, we can manufacture to a fully customised specification with a wafer thickness as little as 10 μm. Our substrates for stock or custom can be manufactured from a great deal of materials including: •Quartz •Borosilicate •BK7 or equivalent •Sapphire •And many more.
