Offset paper is the standard stock used in business correspondence. Due to its uncoated surface, offset paper has a high ink absorption. As a result, the colour reproduction is less intensive than on art print paper, for example. Offset paper is suitable for simple designs with few images. The end-user can print out their sign using a standard inkjet or LaserJet printer onto A4 or A5 paper. This allows for a very quick way of creating signs for areas that may change purpose often. Constructed from a thick piece of homogenous plastic film, they consist of a coloured frame with a clear window in the centre, the top surface lightly embossed to stop it being slippy in the wet. The adhesive used is a strong adhesive that will ensure no lift during use. This allows ColorCovers use in colour coding areas to highlight various organised and hazardous areas.

Thermal paper is a special fine paper that is coated with a material formulated to change color locally when exposed to heat. It is used in thermal printers such as adding machines, cash registers, and credit card terminals and small, lightweight portable printers. The surface of the paper is coated with a chemical substance which changes color when heated above a certain temperature. The printer essentially consists of a transport mechanism which drags the paper across a thermal dot matrix print head. The (very small) dots of the head heat up very quickly to imprint a dot, then cool equally quickly.
