Suitable aftertreatments can render precision O‑rings and X‑rings suitable for specific requirements. Typical requirements are low friction, easier installation (automatic or manual), lifelong lubrication, smooth running and non stick effect. Pivot pins are found on shutoff devices such as spherical valves, butterfly valves, hollow jet valves and plunger valves. These valves are generally used for opening and closing and occasionally to control the flow rates by oscillating movement. The greaselubricated sliding bearing is protected against water infiltration by a seal on the inside. The seal also prevents the grease leaking into the inside to prevent water contamination. The MANOY® system seal WP, type 418, was developed for this application. To prevent leakage of grease from greased bearings, the unidirectional MANOY® system seal WP, type 456, is also installed.
The guide vanes control the inflow of water in turbines. These vanes run in sliding bearings. To give the bearings longer term protection from water infiltration, the inner sealing MANOY® system seal WP, type 428, was developed for standard specifications. Type 487 with integral scraper was designed for high specifications due to abrasive constituents in the water and/or long inspection intervals. The housing for this seal must be open. The profile dimensions of both versions can be customized to adapt to existing groove designs.
