In 1974, Paul Joachim Prause founded the company Schichtstofftechnik Prause, which was renamed the P. J. Prause Durotec GmbH in 1998. P. J. Prause had previously, as part of 3M Germany, significantly contributed to shaping the technical application of synthetic leaf springs in Germany with Scotchply™ glass-fibre composites. This enabled Prause Durotec GmbH to acquire more than 35 years of experience in the manufacture and application of leaf springs made from fibre composites. Prause Durotec is a medium-sized company with 16 members of staff and a global customer base. The range of products we manufacture includes all configurations of flat leaf springs with E-glass, S-glass, carbon fibres, with epoxy resin providing the matrix. The procedures used to process the UD prepregs (UD = unidirectional) comply with aeronautical and military standards.

TFP Technology GmbH is a German manufacturer of textile fibre scrims and reinforcement structures based on innovative CNC laying technology. We use state-of-the-art TFP embroidery laying machines with which we produce elements up to a size of 215 cm x 200 cm. The textile preforms and rovings are specifically produced using the Tailored Fibre Placement process. The fibres are laid in one piece and thus form a complete reinforcement structure for the fibre composite component. Portrait of the SGL Carbon site in Wackersdorf: The SGL Carbon site in Wackersdorf, in the Upper Palatinate, is part of the Carbon Fibres division. Here, about 140 highly-qualified staff deal with the production of mats and non-woven fabrics from carbon, glass or natural fibres. The diverse product range of over 150 product variants is rounded off with the subsequent process step of stacking. This involves superimposing different layers of mats, cutting them into stacks and joining them, all per customer specification. These stacks are then processed by the customer to produce preforms or finished components. Every year, SGL Carbon produces over 8, 000 tons of carbon, glass or natural fibre mats at the Wackersdorf site. The site also boasts three stacking machines with a capacity of over 2 million stacks per year. The products from Wackersdorf are used in a wide range of sectors, albeit primarily in the automotive and aerospace industries. Several recycling facilities serve to recycle the production waste that cannot be avoided in the process. All the facilities are powered by green electricity. Our SIGRATEX textile materials are the ideal basis for producing high-quality, fibre-reinforced plastics. They are suitable for a wide range of processing operations.
