Centrefold plastic film is created by slitting blown film, which is closed on both sides, at the side or down the centre, as desired. It is basically folded flat film. Centrefold film can be used for a wide variety of packaging solutions. One good example is in the furniture industry, which uses centrefold film as furniture covers to protect pieces from dirt and dust. But centrefold film also plays a major role in product packaging in other areas such as e-commerce, the pharmaceutical industry and the textile industry. Centrefold film is mostly processed using machines – especially L sealers, for example. Centrefold film is one of the most common types of plastic film used in automatic packaging machines.

Sometimes size does matter – when it comes to packaging, for example. Sometimes supersize products or extra large amounts of goods require a unique solution. This is where Dürrbeck side gusset tubular film comes into play! This plastic film is similar to standard blown or tubular film, with the exception of its added side gussets, or folds. These allow the film to expand to cover larger circumferences – with a relatively low film width. At Dürrbeck, you can order side gusset tubular film with a maximum circumference of 6,000 mm. Side gusset tubular film is the perfect solution when you need to package bulky, large goods. It is affordable and suitable for a wide range of uses – from delicate laundry or garment bags for clothing to durable protectors of wooden covers, or as special packaging for food. Blown film consistent quality by the roll At Dürrbeck you can expect a large selection of tubular film in various widths and thicknesses and with a range of features. This variety is important as products vary in their shapes and sizes, and require different levels of protection. Plastic blown film is especially suitable for products with adjustable lengths. Blown film is typically made of low-density polyethylene (LDPE). Polyethylene is affordable, durable, watertight and tear-resistant. Depending on how it will be used, we also produce plastic blown film made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), medium-density polyethylene (MDPE), and linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE). Blown film made of DKFol®-Eco and DKFol®-Eco-Coex offers especially high strength with low thickness. These films allow for a reduction in thickness, without compromising on strength and stability.

Plastic film for automatic packing machines is primarily used for the following: E-commerce: as rolls for despatch packaging where the product is automatically wrapped in film, as new packaging for returned goods, etc. Pharmaceutical industry: for bundling and thereby securing the shipment of multiple packages Sanitary products: for packaging paper towels and tissues, nappies and other sanitary items Insulation industry: for packaging insulation boards using stretch packing machines Food industry: food packaging machines (frozen foods, fruit, vegetables, etc.)

In its sensor housing, the combiSENSOR combines two displacement sensors. This unique sensor concept enables one-sided thickness measurement of electrically non-conductive materials on metallic objects. Its field of application is the thickness measurement of plastic film or of plastic coating on metal plates. The eddy current sensor penetrates the plastic layer and measures the distance to a metallic material underneath it, e.g. a metal plate. The capacitive sensor synchronously detects the distance to the plastic material. The thickness is determined based on the difference of both sensor signals.

Side seal bags are practical, universal bags for just about anything that is light and not too bulky. At Dürrbeck, specialists in custom plastic bags and film, we produce side seal bags from high-quality raw materials made to order for a wide range of industries and uses. We place great importance on first-class manufacturing. With side seal bags, our focus is on especially sturdy seals that, as the name suggests, are located on the left and right sides of the bag. Side seal bags have a maximum thickness of 0.15 mm; the bottom of the bag is closed.

Measurement of the surface tension The adhesion of a surface is usually directly dependent on the surface energy. If the surface energy is substantially lower than that of the printing ink used, the wetting is disturbed, resulting in poor adhesion. For this reason, plastic surfaces have to be pre-treated. Depending on the type of ink used the surface tension required can vary: solvent based inks => 38 bis 42 mN/m (=Dyn/cm) water soluble inks => 40 bis 44 mN/m UV inks => 44 bis 46 mN/m With the test inks of AFS, which are available from 34 to 56 dyn/cm surface tensions of plastic films can be easily and reproducibly determined according to DIN ISO 8296. Depending on whether the ink sticks or bubbles on the surface it indicated whether the surface tension is above or below the dyne-value of the currently used test ink. We also offer the test inks in a case with 12 bottles from 34 to 56 dyn/cm.
