The bar magnets are workable on both sides. On the holding surface an individual shape is possible and the adhesive force is adjustable. Bar magnets with an area for a free machining on the adhesive surface moreover offer a better wear protection compared with other bar magnets. Direct mounting of the bar magnet in iron reduced the holding power by up to 15% due to magnetic short circuiting. To avoid this, certain distances need to be maintained between the brass casing of the bar magnet and the iron. The distances are also to be adhered to if the bar magnet was shortened by dimension A.
