readycable® harnessed cables are ready-to-connect cables for use in energy chains®. As manufacturer and harnesser, igus® provides everything from a single source, thus reducing throughput times and the number of suppliers. The portfolio includes an extensive range of catalogue products, including cables harnessed according to manufacturers' standards and diverse industrial standards as well as individual singly or series produced components. Numerous types of cable of different qualities, with different approvals and with different certifications of conformity are available to choose from. All components are subjected to extensive quality checks and functional tests.

Initiator cables, also referred to as sensor/actuator cables, connect control units and different sensors, or, in the case of reversal of the measurement principle, actuators. Frequently used abbreviations include ini or ini cable (plural: inis). Sensor or measurement transducers transform physical quantities such as rotation, speed, distance or length into analogue electric impulses. In the case of an actuator, the measured electric current (symbol: I, unit: ampere; A) or voltage (symbol: U, unit: volt; V) is transformed into temperature, pressure or torque. The connection cable consists of at least three cores with a small cross-section of between 0.14mm² and 0.34mm². In the simplest case, two cores are required for supplying the voltage, while the last core transmits an I/O signal. For sensitive applications, there are shielded versions in addition to the traditional ini cables to avoid EMC disruptions (electromagnetic compatibility).

Axon’ offers extruded flat cables with round conductors for any application requiring space reduction and temperature resistance. The round conductors are insulated with FEP or ETFE. These ribbon cables are characterized with their temperature resistance : -90°C to + 155°C for ETFE, -90°C to +155°C for ETFE insulated flat cables. They are highly resistant to abrasion and traction and have an excellent flexlife.They are available in 1.27 mm and 2.54 mm pitches.

Axon' has developed picocoax® a complete range of miniature coaxial cables and harnesses for applications where a large number of signals have to be transmitted with no interference. Picocoax miniature coaxial cables offer a good compromise between small diameter (for example 0.20 mm) and capacitance of 50 to 100 pF/m.
