The first examples of which were built by CMC TEXPAN in the early 1990s.They are aimed at cleaning the material ow fed into the machine byremoving any possible contaminants, the density of which is higher than that of the processed wood chips, e.g. stones, sand, metals, rubber, coarser chipsetc.The principle of operation is based on densimetric separation chieved in a vibratory box. In addition to the vibration of the machine casing, the materialow is subjected to a strong, pulsating air ow, enhancing the separationeect and providing for further “dry leaning” of chips. Heavy contaminants (e.g. stones, glass, rubber and plastic) are removed from the material ow,discharged from the machine side and conveyed to further re-classication,while clean chips are discharged from the machine’s front end.

Classication of particles, that is to say their separation into fractions of identical and homogeneous particlesize, is a fundamental prerequisite for achieving both outstanding mechanical properties and excellent boards.Oscillating screens are well-proven and widely used machines serving thispurpose, the required performance of which in terms of capacity and number of screened fractions has undergone a considerable increase throughout the years.CMC TEXPAN'S oscillating screens are suitable for wet and dry materials, particles and chips. They ensure a precise classication of wood material into dierent fractions, which are then conveyed to further processing.The principle of operation is based on the oscillation of a screening casing, housing several sifting decks inside.

CMC TEXPAN's roller separators are very suitable for processing fresh and recycled wood; they oer high performance when processing wet or semi-wet wood materials. Their principle of operation is based on the rotation of a group of rollers provided with a specic prole or disc pattern; they are adequately spaced apart, whereby such spacing denes the particle size selected. The material is bouncing on the rollers to separate the fractions. Particles of a size smaller than the gap between the rollers pass through the roller spacing. Larger particles are conveyed by the rollers and discharged. The size of the desired fractions can be simply adjusted by changing the gaps between the rollers and/or by using rollers with dierent patterns. "SRD" type - for pre-crushed material "SRU" type - for all typical applications and numbers of fractions "SRO" type - for wet or dry strands

Fibre sifters are used for processing softwood and rubberwood bres. They serve to remove tramp material, glue clots or latex particles from the resinated and pre-dried bre ow. Only a meticulous preparation like that can ensure a homogeneous board surface without any stains. In addition, sifting is an eective protective measure for the steel belt in the subsequent pressing process. The sifter is fed from the top. Disintegrating rollers mounted in the feed chute loosen up and homogenise the bre ow. Air is introduced from the bottom. The calculated volume ensures that the acceptables, which are lighter, are conveyed upwards, while the heavier rejects drop downwards to be discharged via rotary air lock. The entire sifter and all its ducts and piping are calculated and optimised precisely to the bre ow. This enables the pressure losses to be minimised and the energy eciency of the sifter to be improved signicantly compared to other systems..

The density of the material fed to the mat formers as well as the weight of the formed mat are important factors and must therefore be continuously monitored. CMC TEXPAN's load-cell scales can easily be tted into new or existing production lines to ensure consistent PB, MDF or OSB qualities. They can be installed inside metering bins to control the density of the material fed to the mat formers or downstream of mat formers to control the weight of the formed mat. The core of a mat scale is its weighing table, made of aluminium and split into two halves each connected to the relevant load cells by means of weighing levers. Mat scales operate in "load" mode that is to say the heavier the weight on the scale, the higher the load on the cells. The weight detected by the load cells will be displayed on a digital amplier, shielded against high and low frequency noise, which will give an mA-output signal for further processing in a PLC.
