Laser Scanner Solution: This task is a typical application of the high-resolution QuellTech 2D/3D Q5-880 Blue Laser Scanners. Two of these units are placed at the left and at the right of the measuring objects, at a defined inclination angle. Blue laser light in this case is a prerequisite, as the cast parts are red-hot, hence emitting in the red spectral range. Additionally, the client was in need of a software solution for the project, so a 3D point cloud processing application was implemented, performing inline and evaluating width, height and angle results. QuellTech customer is able to inspect continuously the product quality, simultaneously avoiding scrap. He uses the same system for more than 10 different types of castings. Errors caused by manual inspection are considerably reduced, and safety for personnel is enhanced.

The QuellTech laser sensor family Q4 or Q5 used for these tasks is generally mounted on an arm of a rotational axis, to scan along the complete 360° angle of the internal surface in a sequence of strips. The Q4 sensors can also be used to control the weld seam tracking itself for rapid setup and ease of use. Even during a project, the range and scope of the Q Series sensor demonstrates the advantages of a modular system to quickly adapt to project needs, where the smallest system has provided fast analysis of pipes as small as 105mm. The low power, with standard communication protocols, enable battery powered systems to transmit wireless data to other systems for review and cloud back up.

The LS 1679 has been specially developed for press brakes. The basis for its high accuracy and repeatability is its precise glass scale and high-quality integral bearing. Thanks to the material of its steel track and steel roller bearing component pair it is very robust. There are many variants for connection to the machine frame, whereby the ball coupling offers the most degrees of freedom. The EXE/IBV 100 series distinguishes itself from the EXE/IBV 600 series primarily in its compact dimensions.

The angle encoders without integral bearing (modular angle encoders) are intended for integration in machine elements or apparatuses. Wireless signal transmission The signals are transmitted from wireless touch probes to the SE transmitter/receiver unit via • radio or infrared for the TS 460, • infrared for the TS 444, TS 642, TS 740. This makes these touch probes ideal for use on machines with automatic tool changers. The following transmitter/receiver units are available: • SE 660 for radio and infrared transmission; shared SE for TS 460 and TT 460 • SE 540 only for infrared transmission, for integration in the spindle head • SE 642 only for infrared transmission, shared SE for TS and TT The SE 660 communicates with the TS 460 and TT 460. The TT 160 and TT 460 tool touch probes aretouch trigger probes for the measurement and inspection of tools. The TT 160 features signal transmission by cable, while the TT 460 communicates wirelessly over a radio or infrared beam with the SE 660 transmitter/receiver unit. The disk-shaped probe contact of the TT is defl ected during physical probing of a tool. At that moment the TT generates a trigger signal that is transmitted to the control, where it is processed further. The trigger signal is generated through a wear-free optical switch that ensures high reliability. The probe contact is easy to exchange. The connection pin to the contact plate features a rated break point. This protects the touch probe from physical damage due to operator error.

The aluminum housing of a HEIDENHAIN sealed linear encoder protects the scale, scanning carriage, and its guideway from chips, dust, and fluids. Downward-oriented elastic lips seal the housing. The scanning carriage travels along the scale on a lowfriction guide. It is connected to the external mounting block by a coupling that compensates unavoidable misalignment between the scale and the machine guideways. For typical applications on manual machine tools such as milling machines or lathes, display steps of 10 µm or 5 µm are suffi cient. Such display steps are provided by the LS 300 and LS 600 series linear encoders with an accuracy grade of ± 10 µm per meter traverse.

The TS 750 is equipped with high-precision pressure sensors. The trigger pulse is obtained through force analysis. The forces that arise during probing are processed electronically. This method delivers extremely homogeneous probing accuracy over 360°. With the TS 750, the deflection of the stylus is measured by multiple pressure sensors that are arranged in the stylus holder.

A major hallmark of HEIDENHAIN angle encoders is their very high system accuracy. This makes them particularly advantageous in demanding applications for machine tools, measuring machines, telescopes, printing machines, etc. Because the bearing is integrated into the encoder, machine component bearings have no effect on the measuring accuracy.

The PWT 101 is a testing device for the functional testing and adjustment of incremental and absolute HEIDENHAIN encoders. Thanks to its compact dimensions and sturdy design, the PWT 101 is ideal for portable use. Operation and visual display are performed on a 4.3-inch color flat-panel touchscreen. The PWT 101 supports a variety of functions depending on the encoder and the interface. With encoders featuring the EnDat interface, for example, you can display the position value, export online diagnostic data, shift datums, and perform further inspection functions.

The ERM scale drums are available in two completely different design types, appropriate for their use in different installations: The TTR ERM 2x00 scale drums for precise axes in turning and milling applications The TTR ERM 2x04 and TTR ERM 2x05 scale drums for spindle applications Furthermore, various grating periods are available for the scale drums, depending on the speed and accuracy requirements.
